Singapore UV Index on a Tuesday morning: 11+. Derms consider anything above 8 "very high." We don't really do below 8 here.
If you golf regularly, whether casual weekend rounds or a standing Saturday tee time, your face is getting hit hard. And most of us aren't doing nearly enough about it (myself included, before Cheeky existed 😅).
Let me break it down.
Why Sunscreen Alone Isn't Cutting It on the Course
Sunscreen is GREAT and we love it.
In practice, on a Singapore golf course, it's working against you almost immediately. You're sweating through the front nine. You're gripping a club, wiping your hands on your towel. You're supposed to reapply every two hours, but be honest, are you actually doing this mid-round? Because you can't exactly wash your hands between holes and regrip with SPF50 fingers. So you skip it. And by the 9th hole, you're basically unprotected for the back nine.
The other problem is placement. The areas that face the sun most directly when you're looking down at your ball (cheeks, under-eyes, nose bridge) are the first to lose coverage and the last to get a proper reapply.
What Actually Works
For serious sun protection on the course, you need something sweat resistant that covers the high-exposure zones on your face, and lasts a full round, which is 4 to 5 hours, not 2.
We're big believers in layering. Start with a physical barrier on top for your cheeks and under-eye area. That's where UV patches come in. Then top off with a good SPF50 sunscreen everywhere else. Let it absorb fully and get going with your day.

The Golf Bag Essential Nobody's Talking About ⛳
Other UV face patches are thick, skin-toned gel patches that sit directly on your skin and physically block UV rays. They either stay on or they don't. The good ones stay on.
Cheeky Active Sun Patches are UPF50+ rated (that's 98% UV blocked from the patched area), sweat resistant, and each pack has 12 pairs so you're covered for more than a few rounds plus that sunny beach holiday you've got planned. Apply them to your cheeks and under-eye area before you head out and genuinely forget about them until you're back in the clubhouse.
They also contain hydrating and brightening actives, so your skin is being treated while you play, not just protected. Small but very nice detail!
The Spots Most Golfers Miss Completely
Face sorted? Great. Don't forget the back of your neck (especially under a cap where you think you're safe, you're not 😬), the backs of your hands (exposed on every single shot), and your ears, which have one of the highest rates of skin cancer and are always, always forgotten.
Reapply sunscreen on these at the turn. Every time.
You Don't Have to Choose Between Golf and Your Skin
We started Cheeky because we wanted to actually enjoy being outside (beach, golf, park days) without our skin paying for it later. The patches exist because we couldn't find anything that worked the way we needed it to in this climate.
If you're spending your Saturdays on the course, your skin is putting in serious overtime. Give it the right tools ☀️
Love, Becca
